I’ve been MIA and thought the best way to come back is with a good catch up session or as I like to call it chisme (Cheese – meh).
What the heck is chisme? chismosa? chismeando?
Chisme is a Spanish word for ‘gossip’ but I like to think of it as a story worth telling to all your friends. Chisme is looked down upon and used as an insult towards women. The last thing anyone wants to be called is a chismosa. But at one point or another we are all chismosos: we want to know who did what, who said what and what happened to who. So embrace the title, Chismosas. Let’s get to it!
If We Were Chismeando, I would wish you a Kalo mina! For those asking what the heck that means, it literally means good month. «Καλό μήνα» (Kalo Mina). It’s Greek way of wishing friends and family a good month ahead.
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you I have been all over the place this month. In order to understand the mix, you’d need one part stressed from moving, one part busy with cool work projects, two parts excited for my husband to get back from Sargent training. (So proud of him!)
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you I was able to pay my car off in full! YAY!!!!!! (This was also a New Years resolution of mine)
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you all about the fun I’ve had showing my little brother around OKC. We’ve been zip lining, white water rafting, movie hopping, college visiting and yoga-ing (I know that’s not a word. Whatever.)
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you I signed up for another half marathon and I better get to training. I ran my very first half marathon this past May in Waco. (the Silos half marathon). It was a blast. I obviously liked it so much I signed up for another.
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you I watched all of Grace and Frankie on Netflix and LOVED it.
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you all about my favorite podcasts. I don’t remember what I did before podcasts came into my life. Actually I do: I listened to the same 16 songs on repeat. These days, I listen to podcasts when I’m getting ready in the morning, when I’m in my office, and when I’m doing house chores. My current favorites are
- Locatora Radio – A radiophonic novel hosted by Diosa and Mala also known as “Las Mamis of Myth & Bullshit” I recommend this podcast to all my Latinas out there. You wont be disappointed.
- The Read – This will forever be on my monthly roundups so get use to seeing it on the list. I LOVE this show. Thanks to my bestie Zilde who introduced me to this podcast back in 2014
- Nothing Much happens – This podcast is perfect for helping you fall asleep. The narrators voice is so soothing. It essentially is a bedtime story for adults.
- 30 for 30 – Bikrahm Yoga Series. I was obsessed with Bikrahm yoga my sophomore year of college. Obsessed to the point where I would take two classes a day. When I saw this title I just HAD to hear everything they had to say about Bikrahm. Let me just say…… I was shocked to hear about what goes on behind the brand. I stumbled upon this podcasts as I contemplated picking up Bikrahm again, needless to say I am going to stick with hot yoga in the meantime.
If We Were Chismeando, I would tell you I read Tuesdays with Morrie and absolutely loved it. I packed it up and sent it to my sister. I love sending her books I like so she can enjoy them as well.
If We Were Chismeando, I would stop to catch my breath and have you fill me in on your chisme! What are your current favorites, recommendations and thoughts. Fill me in!
Besitos – Eleni
